Death Mechanics
Guide for Death Mechanics
Death Mechanics
When a player's Hitpoints reach 0, they die. What happens next depends on the type of death (PvE or PvP) and the location.
Safe Deaths
In certain minigames (e.g., Tournament of Champions), death is safe. You respawn with all items and no XP loss.
Dangerous Deaths (PvE)
If you die to a monster:
- Keep 3 Items: You keep your 3 most valuable items.
- Grave: A generic gravemarker appears at the spot of death.
- Timer: You have 15 minutes to return to your grave to reclaim your items.
- Reclamation Fee: If the grave collapses (time runs out), items are moved to Death's Office, where they must be reclaimed for a fee (Gold).
Untradeables
Untradeable items (Quest rewards, certain armors) break on death and must be repaired with gold or supplies.
PvP Deaths
If you die to another player in the Wilderness:
- Skull Status: If you are "Skulled" (attacked first), you keep 0 items (Protect Item prayer saves 1).
- Unskulled: You keep 3 items (Protect Item saves 4).
- Loot: The killer receives a "Key" or the raw items dropped from your inventory.
- Untradeables: Convert to coins for the killer.
Hardcore Mode
- Hardcore Ironmen: PvE death is permanent (downgrade to regular Ironman).
